Coatings on format rollers can lead to the uneven transfer of adhesive. Often a new format roller needs to be "run in", partly because of poor transfer of adhesive, and partly because the machine drives are pushed to the performance limit by the high running resistance of new coatings.
Problems in brief:
- Uneven application of adhesive on the coated substrate
- Lack of wetting of the surface
Formulations specially developed for this roller position avoid/minimise run-in phases.
Due to the homogeneous, smooth surface with very low roughness values, excellent optics can be achieved from the first revolution.
